Asparagus ‘Jersey Knight’ #1 Bare Root Bundle – 5 roots per bundle – $12.00

This male hybrid has many of the same fine characteristics as the earlier variety Jersey Giant; high productivity, fusarium tolerance and rust resistance. It does well where soils are heavier and contain more clay. It offers growers a wide range of adaptability. In commercial fields it has proven to be one of the highest yielders. They are often used for processing and for fresh market.

Asparagus is one of the more permanent vegetable crops in a garden. It typically produces for 10-15 years.

It takes about three years for plants to mature enough for harvesting. Prior to that plants should be allowed to grow and feed themselves.

In the third year, begin harvesting spears that are finger-sized and about 8″ long.
